Family Spotlights

Getting To Know You...Getting To Know And To Like You

Brink Family

Gabe proposed on April Fools day in the year 2000....maybe he wasn't sure he wanted to get married yet? :) :) They were married 2 months later!

Gabe and Amie grew up here in Northern California: They both went to BYU Idaho where they finished their Associate Degrees: Gabe's major: Microbiology, Gabe continued onto BYU Utah to pursue his pre-med degree, but came back to California when the opportunity arose to open a business with his brother Eli.

Gabe had an interesting calling while at BYU-Idaho: Ward mechanic....bet the girls loved his help!

Amie's major at BYU Idaho: Interior Design. She transferred to Sacramento State University to continue her degree when she met Gabe and was coerced to get married and attend BYU with him....actually no convincing needed....he was tall dark and handsome!!!

They have 3 children ages 6, 4 1/2 , and 2 1/2...each 20 months from each other....LOTS OF FUN!

Cade "Our Warrior" : Calm yet full of energy; with a strong will to work hard and do what is right. "A mini Gabe"

Alia "Lia": Very patient and kind...loves to be beautiful (don't we all?). She enjoys caring for smaller children. What a wonderful mom she will be!

Levi "The Barbarian": Extremely loveable and cuddly but has NO FEAR (hence the Barbarian nickname). We love his million kisses he gives away daily, but turn your back for a second and he's charging at you to tackle you down!

Our family loves the outdoors: camping, biking, running, hiking, ATV's, canoeing and kayaking, vacations, sports, and get-aways. But our favorite thing is to be together with family and friends!!!

We've moved 9 times in our marriage of 7 years. This is the longest we've stayed in one house (almost 3 years)......and we hope to stay even longer! We love the neighbors we have and the ward!

Jones Family

Though it’s a daunting task for us to write about ourselves, we REALLY enjoyed reading about the families in the last ward news letter- so we’ll take our turn and hope the rest of you TAKE YOURS!!!

Adam and I were married in the Oakland Temple in 2002. We both grew up in the Sacramento area, and figure we crossed paths on several occasions but never met until we were set up on a blind date in 2001.

Adam is the baby of nine kids and his family calls him “the glue that keeps them together” (that and “Baby Huey”). Adam played sports year-round through high school and continues to play golf often. He served a mission in New Mexico. He’s quite a chef and loves to host parties. He is very gregarious and personable and it’s no wonder he landed a job in sales- designing dental offices and selling dental equipment. He says the evidence of his sales ability is his wife (ha ha—I’ll let YOU be the judge of that!)

As for me-I spent my high school years in El Dorado Hills (when there were only two stoplights) and am proud to say I lived in Spanish Fork UT, Dallas TX, Memphis TN, and then EDH. I love to play tennis and I have more than 30 journals (not an important detail—but something most people don’t know about me). I served a mission in Paraguay and was almost done with nursing school when I met Adam.

As newlyweds, Adam and I lived in Palo Alto where Adam worked in dental sales and I worked as a nurse. In those “pre-children days” we enjoyed going to sporting events (especially to see the Sharks play hockey) and trying new restaurants throughout the bay. We have an affinity for Half Moon Bay- (especially the restaurant overlooking the ocean where Adam proposed to me). A few highlights of those days were when Adam taught institute to the Stanford students and when I traveled to Guatemala as part of a surgical team.In 2005 Adam took a job (doing the same thing) here in Sacramento. We’ve filled our lives with two beautiful daughters and love to see them grow up near their grandparents.

Lexi was born on Valentine’s Day and is almost three. She refers to herself as “Cinda la la” (Cinderella) and calls her baby sister “Gus” (the chubby mouse). Lexi likes to read books over and over and over again and is not afraid to catch and hold the chickens at my parents’ house.

Kelly was born on our anniversary and is almost 10 months. We can see that she likes to dance and is learning to wave. She clicks her tongue and her favorite friend is Lexi.

When we have free time we like to spend it with friends (yes- that’s an invitation) and are grateful to be a part of the Silva Valley Ward.
