Getting to Know You...Getting to Know and to Like You

Pearson Family
by Julie Pearson

Julie and Cody Pearson, and their son Chase, have lived in the Silva Valley Ward for almost three years. They moved here from New Jersey where they lived for 18 years. They have five children: Aspen (27), Justin (26), Weston (24), Alyssa (21), Chase (17) and two (almost three) grandchildren. Cody and Julie have been married for 29 ½ years.

Cody would tell you that Julie pretty much asked him to marry her and that would be mostly true. They lived in the Brownstone apartments in Provo and Julie noticed that Cody was always laughing and having fun. Julie was tired of playing the dating games at BYU and after their second date asked, “So, are you looking for a wife?” Without batting an eye, Cody said, “Yes.” Six months later they married in the Salt Lake Temple.

Cody served his mission in Uruguay and Paraguay (75-77) when both countries were one mission. Julie graduated from BYU with a degree in journalism. Two children and several years later, Cody graduated from BYU with his MBA. Pearsons have lived in New Mexico, Nevada, New Jersey, and now California. A new job with the Sundt Construction Company brought the Pearsons to El Dorado Hills. They love it here and plan to stay.

Going on vacation with family members who are now spread out across the country is the Pearson’s favorite thing to do. Playing games has always been a big part of their family life and the competition gets heated whether they are playing speed scrabble, football, basketball, or ping pong. Chase likes it when all the other kids are around because then he doesn’t feel like an only child.

Chase is a high school senior and has just completed everything to receive his Eagle Scout Award. He plays lacrosse at Oak Ridge High School. He is a defenseman. Moving here in the middle of his freshman year was a challenge, but he now willingly claims California as his home.

Cody has traveled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Thailand for his previous employment. He has had some interesting adventures. The most memorable trip that Cody and Julie took together was to Istanbul, Turkey. They experienced a traditional Turkish Bath and would recommend it to the uninhibited and brave. Would they do it again? Perhaps.
